Dolphin Diaries - May 5th, 2023

Aloha!

We arrived at Wai’anae Harbor early enough to still catch the sunrise. It was a great way to set off the tour as the heavenly golden rays glistened over the harbor. The water also was calmer compared to the day before which made some smooth sails as we ventured to see any dolphins nearby.

It wasn’t long until we came across a Bottlenose dolphin! Normally the dolphins we see on our tours are Spinner dolphins, and the Bottlenose dolphins are a lot larger than the Spinner dolphins. Not to mention, Bottlenose dolphins tend to swim more in the deeper waters, so it was a nice surprise to see another species. The guests were gasping with excitement as we saw many more dolphins as the ride came to an end! What a great day!

What a great day! Picked up on time & had numerous texts to remind us of the pick up point & protocols. Beautiful big bus for the journey, thoroughly briefed enroute by the lovely Becky. The crew captained by Danny, who knew exactly where to find the most amazing dolphin pod! 40-50 spinners with babies came to be nosey and take a look at us on the boat!! When we got into the sea for snorkelling- they came back!! We were surrounded by dolphins for about 30 minutes in the water!! At one point I had dolphins all around me, about 6ft away!! It was possibly the best excursion I’ve ever done! The energy on board from the crew was fantastic all day & we even got a “Hula dance” demonstration from 3 of the girls & then Keana on his own which was awesome! Thank you so much for such a great time & wonderful memories! xxx
